'February's' meeting notes & reminder of upcoming March meeting

Good afternoon patriots!

February’s meeting actually took place March 3 due to a winter storm that caused us to postpone our meeting. The meeting featured Mathew Seifried, Michigan GOP Election Integrity State Director. He discussed the difference between an election inspector, poll challenger, and poll watcher.  We learned about why the MI GOP has not been able to be involved in election integrity in the past, what has changed, and what is being done now to combat this in the next election.
He spoke on the importance of getting involved in the upcoming elections and how you can participate. The Michigan Election Protection Team was formed and set a statewide goal to recruit 5000 conservative election inspectors by May of this year. This team includes over two dozen organizations from around the state (including Stand Up Michigan) and even some national organizations. You can find more information on this initiative including a way to sign up and print an application to become an election inspector on their website, www.mielectionprotection.com. The MI GOP will be conducting zoom training sessions on Monday & Wednesday nights in the near future to prepare poll workers of all kinds, what to look for, how to challenge issues that you may see, and how to proceed if your challenges are not acknowledged. Watch for more information on these sessions in the coming weeks. In the meanwhile, get your applications in so we can meet our goals! We will have applications printed and available to be submitted at our next meeting as well.

A few other volunteer opportunities were highlighted for those who would like to get involved to help secure our elections including:
  • Helping with the Secure MI Vote Petition

It is so important to take advantage of every opportunity to meet the candidates for offices you will be voting. Come with questions that are important to you. You MUST show up and inform yourself!! Invite anyone who may want more information on the candidates.
We are expecting a larger crowd, so please plan accordingly. Doors will open at 6:30pm to give everyone extra time to socialize and get to know the other members. Chapter shirts and gear will be available. Additionally baked goods will again be available to purchase prior to enjoy during the meeting, and after to take home!
This is a FREE event and there is no membership fee for our group. We would like to continue to bring speakers in free of charge so as to not prevent anyone from attending and having access to important information.
